Hilary Underwood - Director Recruitment

I started my career in recruitment back in 1995. Things were very different then. No job boards, no online candidate registration, no LinkedIn. We just used good old pen and paper and a phone!

My career started with Reed Employment who I have to say were a fantastic company to work for. The training was a one-week residential course in the Cotswolds and they taught me the whole 360 process of recruitment and I gained my Certificate in Recruitment Practice.

Whilst I still use much of what they taught me today, the last 20 years has given me a much more useful tool and that is experiencing the diversity and complexity of people.

Whilst I was still at Reed I managed a very busy temp desk, it was fast and furious but gave me the experience of managing other recruitment consultants. Having done Temporary and Permanent recruitment I then took on a role recruiting consultants for a Construction Recruitment company. This led to my post with the same company as a recruitment trainer. I loved this role and enjoyed taking on new trainees, seeing them develop and grow, passing on my many years of experience through the training courses and programmes I produced and delivered.

So to sum up, I have done the job, managed the job, trained the job and recruited for the job…….. This is why I believe we can deliver you top class people.

When I am not doing recruitment I am at home with my husband and our teenage son. I love walking in the outdoors and socialising with friends and family. My next venture will be to add a dog to our family but not quite yet.
